Irresistible Homemade Biscuits

Ingredients

For Biscuits:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • 3 tbsp sugar

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 4 tsp baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp cream of tartar

  • 3/4 cup COLD salted butter

  • 1 egg

  • 1 cup milk


For Agave Butter:

  • 4 tbsp melted butter

  • 1/4 cup agave

  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees.

  • Always use COLD BUTTER. I mean Really cold. Try not to let the butter soften before the biscuits go in the oven. PRO TIP: Cut the butter into small pieces and store in the fridge until you are ready.

  • Combine the dry ingredients in a large bowl. 

  • Using a pastry cutter, cut cold butter into flour mixture. look for small pieces of butter throughout the dough. 

  • In a small bowl mix together the milk and egg. Add to flour mixture and mix just until the ingredients are combined. The dough will be sticky.

  • On a generously floured surface. Knead the dough about 10-15 times. If the dough is really sticky sprinkle on some flour to help knead.

  • Spread the dough out to 3/4 - 1 inch thickness and cut with a biscuit cutter, knife or glass.

  • Place the biscuits on a lightly greased baking sheet or 9x13 casserole dish and bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown on top.

  • Remove from oven and immediatey top with Agave Butter! Best served hot!
